  The Nando's Hot Peri Peri Sauce is a true blend of Portuguese and South African flavors. The sauce was created when the Portuguese discovered the African Bird's Eye Chilli of South Africa.

  Their expeditions in the region led to the invention of the intensely hot Peri Peri sauce by Fernando Duarte in 1987. He combined the African Bird's Eye Chilli with local herbs and garlic to create the sauce which is now sold worldwide. His small eatery soon became famous for the Portuguese marinated and basted chicken with the deliciously spicy Peri Peri sauce. This combination is beloved by all since it is so complimentary to each other. The sun-ripened lemons, the sweet garlic, and exotic wild herbs add another yummy layer to the sauce.
